(MINNEAPOLIS, Minn., Jan. 24, 2012) – Courage Center announced today an exciting matching grant opportunity which will enable children and adults with disabilities to participate in life-changing experiences at one of its 2012 camp sessions. The grant extends scholarship support for campers who are unable to pay the full camp fee. Last year, about 73 percent of Courage Center Camps participants qualified for scholarship support with more than $170,310 in camp scholarships awarded. The Butzow Family Foundation’s will present a $25,000 matching grant for camp scholarships if Courage Center can raise an additional $25,000 by March 1, 2012. Members of the Foundation recognize the many financial challenges associated with having a disability and want to ensure that everyone who wants to attend camp, regardless of their ability to pay, can do so.
For more than 50 years, Courage Center Camps have provided campers with opportunities to increase daily living competencies and self-awareness, encourage responsibility, take healthy risks, and build confidence for more independent living. Just as importantly, camp is fun in a fully accessible setting where life-long friendships and mentoring also happens.
Online donations can be made at www.couragecenter.org/donatetoday; then select the Butzow Foundation Match from the drop down box. Donations must be received by March 1, 2012 to qualify for the match.
