Purpose:
Adventure Camp Staff include Lifeguards and a Supervisor who are responsible for protecting the safety of campers during planned trips. They  supervise activities pertaining to all adventure camp programs, develop and facilitate  activities for campers. Courage Center Adventure Camps Staff provide exceptional quality outdoor and indoor experiences for campers with a focus on Courage Center’s mission of empowering people with physical disabilities to reach for their full potential in every aspect of life

Major Job Responsibilities

1. Assist Adventure Camp Supervisor with trip planning as needed.
2. Assist with preparing the travel equipment before summer program begins.
3. Assist in planning menus and packing food for all Adventure Travel Camps.
4. Assist in lifting of campers from chair to vehicles and back.
5. Assist with all personal cares as needed for physically challenged adults
6. Assist with planning and supervising all travel activities.      
7. When not involved in program, act as a counselor and take part in general camp activities.
8. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
   
Education/Work Experience
Required:  one year of experience as a lifeguard
Preferred:  Two years of camping experience
                 Trip planning and leading experience

License/Certifications
Required: Current Lifeguard certification and First Aid and Professional Rescue CPR
               Valid Drivers License
Preferred: Wilderness First Aid

Communications:
An individual is expected to facilitate communications with clients, staff and visitors in all methods available to them:  American Sign Language, Oral English, written communication and use of communication devices.

Physical Demands: 
1. The ability to assist with lifting a client and push wheelchairs
2. The physical stamina and ability to work and participate in all camp activities for a sustained period of time.
