Hours:Summer 2010Temporary/SeasonalDescription:The Assistant Program Manager is responsible for camp planning, training, activities, staffing, transitions and intake of campers. Accountable for camper wellness, safety, adjustment, welfare and growth while at camp. Assistant Program Managers ensure the smooth and safe operation of Camp to provide exceptional quality outdoor and indoor experiences for campers. In general, the job consists of handling all immediate direct day to day managerial issues which do not require the direct attention of the Camp Program ManagerMajor Job Responsibilities:1. Integrated Planning and Budgeting: Before each session, review camper's applications and medical forms with the following staff: Cabin Supervisor, RN Supervisor, Food Service staff and Cabin Leaders. Before the beginning of each session, assist Cabin Supervisor with assisgning both campers and counselors to their respective cabins. 2. Strengthening the Culture of Excellence: Clear all special events and, where possible, assist in making these a success. 3. Recruiting, Retaining and Developing Staff: Assist Program Manager and Leadership staff with staff training and on-going training sessions. 4. Managing Departmental Operations: Responsible for day to day supervision of staff and campers on campus. Responsible for coordinating transportation of campers. 5. Quality Management: Conduct staff evaluations for Leadership staff. Conduct post-camp evaluations and recommendations. 6. Project Management: See that daily and evening program schedules are being executed. 7. Other: Oversee camp clean-up, assist in changeovers. Assist on the beach during swimming and aquatic activities Qualifications:Education/Work ExperienceRequired: Must be 25 years old have a college degree in outdoor recreation, leadership or related area 3 years of resident camp staff experiencePreferred: Experience working with people who have disabilitiesLicense/CertificationsRequired: Valid drivers licensePreferred:Communications:An individual is expected to facilitate communications with clients, staff and visitors in all methods available to them: American Sign Language, Oral English, written communication and use of communication devices.
Physical Demands: 1. The ability to assist with lifting a client and push wheelchairs2. The physical stamina and ability to work and participate in all camp activities for a sustained period of time.
