Carrie Shogren, OTR/L, joined the ABLE program in 2010. Her role includes being part of the workgroup that developed the ABLE intensive exercise program. As the occupational therapist in the program, she helped create upper-extremity focused tasks with a team from the NeuroRecovery Network.
Shogren has experience in sub-acute rehab, inpatient and outpatient therapy, and home settings. In 2001, she started on call for outpatient therapy in pediatric and adult rehabilitation services at Courage Center, Golden Valley. Shortly afterward she transitioned into Independent Living Services, assisting adults with disabilities in maintaining independence in their own homes. In 2004 she began working in the Transitional Rehabilitation Program on the Spinal Cord Injury Team. Her work has focused on individuals with spinal cord injury for the last seven years.
Along with being employed at Courage Center, she has volunteered in the Courage Center Ski and Snowboard Program and is the staff supervisor for the adaptive yoga class.
When she isn't working, Shogren enjoys spending time with family, creating pottery and card making.
