Help Courage Cards Help Minnesota Troops Send Holiday Wishes Home

MINNEAPOLIS (Oct. 14, 2009) – Courage Center wants to honor those who will be away from home serving our country overseas this holiday season. The Courage Cards for the Troops “card-raiser” campaign will take place Nov. 2 – 11 (Veteran’s Day), 2009.

For every four boxes of Courage Cards sold during that time, Courage Center will donate one box of blank cards to members of the Minnesota National Guard’s 34th Infantry currently serving in Iraq. The goal is to send 1,000 boxes (approximately one for each troop) so the servicemen and servicewomen may send holiday greetings back home to their loved ones.

On Saturday, Nov. 7, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., special awareness events for Courage Cards for the Troops will be held at the following locations:

  • Courage Cards & Gifts Shop in Golden Valley - 3915 Golden Valley Road
  • Byerly’s St. Louis Park – 3777 Park Center Boulevard in St. Louis Park
  • Byerly’s Roseville – 1601 West County Road C in Roseville
  • Lunds Ford Parkway (Highland Park) – 2128 Ford Parkway in St. Paul

These events will feature in-store displays, Courage Cards spokespeople and/or veterans who have been assisted by the rehabilitation services offered through Courage Center.

Courage Cards for the Troops will also be available at Courage Card’s two specialty gift shops. Courage Cards & Gifts Shop located within Courage Center in Golden Valley will participate from Nov. 2 (Opening Day) through Nov. 11.  Hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Stillwater area shoppers may visit the Courage Center St. Croix location from Nov. 9 (Opening Day) through Nov. 11, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day.

Courage Cards is a holiday card program supporting the services of Courage Center, a non-profit rehabilitation and resource center advancing the lives of adults and children with disabilities. All proceeds from the sale of Courage Cards benefit Courage Center.

The Courage Cards 2009 fine art holiday greeting card collection features the work of 25 acclaimed and talented artists, most with disabilities, from around the world (including 12 from Minnesota) who have provided their artworks to Courage Center.
