Independent Living Skills (ILS) and Housing Access Coordination services strengthen clients’ ability to manage their own affairs.

An ILS specialist meets clients in their homes or at other locations to give training and support for:

  • Coordination and connection to community services
  • Health management
  • Household management and organization
  • Help finding affordable, accessible housing  
  • Housing stability
  • Interpersonal skills and communication
  • Leisure and recreation
  • Meal planning, grocery shopping and cooking
  • Memory compensation strategies
  • Problem solving assistance
  • Safety and self-defense
  • Time management
  • Transportation resources

ILS specialists also teach clients how to advocate for themselves. Services may continue until all goals are met.
