Occupational Therapy for Children

child receiving occupational therapy

Therapy in the Spirit of Childhood

The playfulness and the energy of childhood create the environment in which our pediatric occupational therapists work.  We view the child and the his or her environment in a holistic way, analyzing the child’s functional performance within different environments to identify strengths and limitations. We also work with the family and caregivers to optimize outcomes. Ocupational therapists address:

  • Self-care skills (feeding, grooming, hygiene, dressing, functional mobility)
  • Play, school and work activities
  • Sensory processing skills
  • Upper extremity strength, coordination and control
  • Cognition, attention, memory and executive function skills
  • Psychosocial skills
  • Assistive technology

Our many techniques include therapeutic listening, Dynavision therapyInteractive MetronomeStiwell Med4, Modified CIMT, sensory gyms and the SOS feeding approach. Therapeutic adaptations and home programs are incorporated as needed.

Please call 763-520-0494 or pedscarenavigator@couragecenter.org to speak with the Pediatric Care Navigator.
