Occupational Therapy for Children
Therapy in the Spirit of Childhood
The playfulness and the energy of childhood create the environment in which our pediatric occupational therapists work. We view the child and the his or her environment in a holistic way, analyzing the child’s functional performance within different environments to identify strengths and limitations. We also work with the family and caregivers to optimize outcomes. Ocupational therapists address:
Self-care skills (feeding, grooming, hygiene, dressing, functional mobility)
Play, school and work activities
Sensory processing skills
Upper extremity strength, coordination and control
Cognition, attention, memory and executive function skills
Our many techniques include therapeutic listening, Dynavision therapy, Interactive Metronome, Stiwell Med4, Modified CIMT, sensory gyms and the SOS feeding approach. Therapeutic adaptations and home programs are incorporated as needed.
