Physical Therapy for Children

Improving abilities and independence

Our pediatric physical therapists help children develop gross motor skills to improve functional abilities and independence.  This includes assessing and making recommendations for therapeutic equipment such as walkers, wheelchairs and orthotics in order to help a child interact with his world.  Our treatment plan is tailored for the specific needs of each child and may address:

  • Gross motor skill development
  • Balance and coordination skills
  • Walking and mobility skills
  • Trunk and extremity strength and control
  • Fitness and aquatics (pool therapy and swimming)
  • Orthotic consultation
  • Wheelchair and therapeutic equipment consultation

We use many different techniques, including innovative new therapies such as Intensive TherapyIM Gait Mate , WAVE, sensory-motor gyms, Interactive Metronome and Stiwell Med4.  Our physical therapists also teach families home activities that enhance therapy sessions.

Please call 763-520-0494 or pedscarenavigator@couragecenter.org to speak with the Pediatric Care Navigator.
