Sensory-Motor Gyms

A Place to Experience, Interact and Grow Stronger

Courage Center has pediatric sensory–motor gyms at all four clinic locations.  The gyms provide a fun, safe and motivating environment for movement and exploration.  They offer adventure and new experiences for children, and help them attain goals in the areas of strength, movement, sensory processing, language experiences, self-care skills, behavior modulation, attention/safety skills and social interactions.   

The gyms are used in conjunction with occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech therapy.

Our gyms include:

• Rock walls for climbing and strength development
• Suspended equipment with swings for balance and vestibular treatment
• Stairs for functional skills
• Crash mats and crash pillows for fun, motor planning and strength
• Tunnels and barrels for crawling
• Balls and air pillows for balance
• Jumpers for skills and leg strength
• Indoor gyms or loft for climbing and building playground skills
• Balance beams
• Sensory toys for sensory interactions
• Motor play toys and equipment
• Yoga activities for strength and body awareness
