Spasticity is a painful and disabling condition causing stiffness of muscles. It can interfere with all muscle activities, including walking, movement and speech. It can also lead to joint contractures. Spasticity can be caused by brain injury, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, stroke and other neurological conditions.
Courage Center’s new outpatient Spasticity Clinic provides comprehensive evaluations and treatment of spasticity. An interdisciplinary team of specialized physicians, nurses and physical and occupational therapists will develop an individualized plan of care for each patient.
