Volunteer Opportunities in Stillwater

Courage Center St. Croix is located in the heart of the St. Croix River Valley in Stillwater, Minn. Our services use a holistic approach, interweaving therapy, fitness, recreation, sports and family involvement.

Academic Services Assistant
Help clients reach their educational goals.  Work one-to-one on academic tasks and computer skills.  Meet new people, review basic educational skills and know that you have helped someone master educational survival tasks. Times:  Tuesday afternoons during the school year.

Children’s Swim Lesson Assistant
Fun opportunity to work with kids in our pool and help them become great swimmers! Assist staff with lesson plan, encourage fun and safety with the kids, and provide extra hands on help. Training provided.
Times: Sessions through out the year, Monday and Wednesday evenings, Thursday and Saturday mornings 
Location: Courage Center St Croix pool

Competitive Swim
Volunteers with competitive swim coaching experience are needed to coach athletes with physical disabilities, ages 8 to 19.  You will instruct swimmers in racing strokes and turns, race strategy and technique improvement.
Times:  Fall - Tuesdays, 6-7 p.m. August to May; occasional Saturday meets

Courage Riders
Share your love of horses.  Assist with a therapeutic horseback riding program for children with disabilities. Must be 15 years old to work directly with clients. Junior volunteer roles available with adult partner. Basic knowledge of horsemanship and horse safety desirable but not required. Physically demanding volunteer job.
Times:  May- September, Tuesdays; 5:30, 6:30 or 7:30 p.m. classes available
Location:  Washington County Fairgrounds

Maintenance
Calling all handy persons! Help spruce up the building by assisting with touch-up painting, small repairs, outdoor gardening and general maintenance. It's a big building and we would appreciate your help. Very flexible schedule. Times: Days or early evenings, two to three hours a week.

Stroker’s Swim Assistant
Enjoy our 92-degree pool and partner with helping a stroke survivor with our Stroker’s Exercise class. Assist with low impact exercises, range of motion and stretching while the instructor leads the class. Training provided.
Times:  Sessions through out the year, Monday-Thursday; 10-11 a.m.
Location: Courage Center St Croix pool

Water Activities
Come and help teens and young adults with having fun and exercising in the pool. Volunteers provide one-on-one guidance and assistance with their swimmer's goals for exercise. Group games and activities add fun to the night!
Times: Sessions run August to mid-May; Tuesdays; 6-7 p.m.
Location:  Courage Center St Croix pool

Youth Fitness
Help youth develop good lifetime fitness and nutrition habits and individualized fitness training. Be a volunteer role model for young people and promote fun while getting fit. Training provided.
Times: Year round; Tuesdays and Thursdays; 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Volunteer Opportunities in Forest Lake

Courage Center Forest Lake is located in the heart of Forest Lake, north of the Twin Cities. Founded as a satellite of Courage Center St. Croix, the Forest Lake facility was established to bring Courage Center’s rehabilitation expertise to the north suburban and rural areas along Hwy 35.

Volunteer Receptionist  
You can help make Courage Forest Lake a welcoming place by greeting consumers and visitors in person or on the telephone. This reception services volunteer will also perform clerical tasks and help maintain the lobby and therapy rooms.  Times: Flexible.
