STIWELL med4 is a neuromuscular electrical stimulation device that supports intentional aided movements with functional electrical therapy combined with biofeedback. It's used in the treatment of stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and other motor control problems to reestablish motor functions. Physical and occupational therapists use the device for the functional restoration of control and coordination in upper or lower extremities.
The multi-channel controls allow the stimulation of complex movement sequences. The biofeedback on the device and the additional computer software program give instant visual and auditory feedback to aid the development of precise movements.
The STIWELL med4 can be used with children, teens and adults. Courage Center Forest Lake is the first clinic in the Upper Midwest offering this technology to advance rehabilitation outcomes.
