In the United States, 20 million men and women of all ages live with urinary incontinence (UI). Many people believe UI is a normal part of aging and disability. It is not. The good news: UI can be improved through therapy.
Our unique program is designed for clients with complex neurological and gerontological needs and treats multiple types of incontinence including stress, urge, fecal and functional incontinence. We also work with pediatric clients who are dealing with incontinence related to independence with toileting.
Pelvic floor pain is also a common and often untreated condition that women of all ages may experience. This unique area of pain can often be overlooked, especially if women are not open and willing to discuss their symptoms and concerns.
Pelvic pain can include chronic and acute symptoms including tailbone pain (from a fall or trauma), painful bladder syndrome (interstitial cystitis), post-operative pain (hysterectomy or C-Section), post-partum concerns from episiotomy tear/scar or adhesions, painful intercourse or muscle spasms.
Courage Center's personalized urinary incontinence and pelvic pain programs are led by physical and occupational therapists. We identify each client’s individual needs and set functional daily living goals. The programs may include:
Clients are welcome and encouraged to bring a caregiver or partner to these treatment sessions if appropriate.
