Leadership Council

The purpose of the Volunteer Leadership Council is to provide direction, focus and measurement to the volunteer program through use of an annual plan with measurable outcomes. Council members also act as community ambassadors, identify and train others for volunteer leadership positions, and support Courage Center through fundraising events.

The Work of the Volunteer Leadership Council

The Volunteer Leadership Council helps the staff keep a balance between day to day tasks and the long-range vision by:

  • Representing a cross section of Courage volunteers and helping staff identify any concerns of the volunteer body.
  • Monitoring progress on issues/goals.
  • Providing leadership for specific tasks (which are negotiated annually).
  • Serving as individual resources to the Volunteer Services Department staff.

About the Members

Members should have a commitment to the goals and objectives of Courage Center, demonstrated leadership in the volunteer program and ability to work independently and with a diversity of people.

Members and chair of the committee will be selected by the director of Volunteer Services with the department staff, subject to the approval of the president of the Board.  Meetings will be held at least five times a year and sub-committees will be meet as deemed necessary by the committee’s chair.
