Meaningful Work in an Outdoor Setting

Join our dynamic camp staff to provide mentoring and role modeling, while making sure campers with disabilities have a fun, safe experience. Candidates for summer staff should have a genuine desire to work in an outdoor setting with children and adults with disabilities.

Courage Center Camps serve children and adults with physical disabilities, and youth with speech, language and/or hearing impairments. Campers learn, grow, make friends and have fun in safe and accessible natural settings.

You’ll be part of a mission-driven organization that empowers people with physical disabilities to reach for their full potential in every aspect of life.

Working at Courage Camps You Will

  • Gain experience in working with campers with disabilities.
  • Make a difference in the lives of campers.
  • Build lifetime friendships.
  • Live in a cabin with campers and/or staff.
  • Get three meals a day and some snacks.
  • Receive CPR and First Aid Training (available for certain positions).

Courage Camp Staff

  • Have a high level of positive energy.
  • Have experience in outdoor recreation or youth leadership.
  • Want to work hard, play hard and have fun.
  • Have or would like to have experience, competence and sensitivity in working with people with physical disabilities and people of diverse races and cultures.
  • Are guided by the vision that one day, all people will live, work, learn and play in a community based on abilities, not disabilities.

Camp Courage - Maple Lake, Minn.   (map)

Camp Courage has two campuses on 305 acres of beautiful lakeshore, woods and fields near Maple Lake, Minnesota (about 50 miles west of Minneapolis),  with accessible cabins in an accessible setting. The Lakeside campus offers sessions for youth, teens and adults with physical disabilities or visual impairments. The Woodland campus offers a wide range of therapeutic camping sessions for children with speech, hearing and language impairments.

Courage North - near Itasca State Park   (map)

Courage North is set amid 105 acres of towering pines on Lake George, near Itasca State Park in northern Minnesota. Courage North offers sessions for adults with physical disabilities and youth and teens who are deaf or hard of hearing in accessible cabins and accessible facilities.
