Using funds made available by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act (ARRA), the Minneapolis Public Housing Authority (MPHA), Sherman Associates and other public and private partners (including Courage Center) are working to develop a new senior services center in Heritage Park in North Minneapolis.
This new community resource will provide an array of services to elderly northside residents, including, medical, adult daycare, social and recreational programming. In concert with other project partners, including the YMCA, Augustanta, Hennepin County and Fremont Clinic, Courage Center will offer comprehensive wellness and fitness programming; Courage Center experts in rehabilitation and physical therapy will provide aquatic physical therapy services in a state-of-the-art, warm-water therapeutic Hydroworks pool. A “green initiative” senior housing/memory care development also is being planned for Heritage Park.
MPHA will host a groundbreaking event Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., at the development site, on 4th Ave N, between Bryant Ave N and Dupont Ave N (south of Olson Memorial Highway).
